I love dogs. Although some people may differ in thoughts, I think they are wonderfully bright. Well, depending anyway. My family owns two dogs. They are both, two, gorgeous brown labs. One is a full breed and the other... I'm not really sure. Now, don't guffaw at the names. The one, male, and four years of age is named Fargo. And our other, which is female, and one years old is names Shylo! I think they're really unique. Both them in themselves, and their names.

Picking names for a dog isn't hard. Just get to know the animal. Then follow your gut. I mean, don't name an animal that loves to run, Idle. Unless you want to do that. Its your choice.

Some really good dog names are, Shadow, River, Bruce (its so buff), Winney, Tag, Lue...

Our dogs are also, not very well trained. Fargo can do some tricks, like sit, drop, jump, speak, shake a paw, other paw, stay, and come.
But he can't do it when he's excited, or lazy, and he definitely won't do it if you don't have a treat. Shylo on the other hand can sit. We've tried to teach her other things, like roll over, but she's extremely stubborn. Plus, she starts to thinks it's a game, and gets super hyper.

On the other hand, they are both totally responsive to our voices, and attune to certain words. Like leash, or walk! It's hilarious. Because we always said those words before we took them on walks, they started to incorporate the word and action together. Now we have to spell the words out, because if the hear them they go springing around the house and on occasion run into the door.

Fargo, and Shylo, have both also become very compassionate toward certain people. Obviously the people in our family, but also another person who we hold in very high regard. The pizza man!

I have lived with dogs my whole life. I don't know what I would do without them!

Good article. As to the names of your dogs, I am reminded of a Louis l'Amour novel.
And yes, a life without dogs is a meaningless life - hardly worth living.
