My distant cousins whom I visited last year showed me that there indeed was a sport of spider combats in their place.

Adults even place bets when such fights occurs. The fight is won when one spider is captured by the webbings of the other or one of them runs away and refuses to fight. The winner is then taken back to a huge matchstick box where it will be stored and fed.

This is an alternative sport for people in rural areas with low incomes. Most well to do people here go to the cockpit areas during Sundays to gamble.

Just imagine, pe
ople finding spiders, keeping them as pets so that they may ultimately ne used as combatants to earn money and honor from their peers.

I could not help but wonder on the inventiveness of the citizens of this place. I don't have no sympathies for the spiders since I for one am terribly scared of them no matter what the size, color and form they have.

Nevertheless, spiders have a role to play in the environment. They tend to catch flies, mosquitos and other insects to have a check and balance on the population of these flies and many others. To me a dead spider is a good spider. Touche !
