Dogs, cats, and ferrets do not have inherent animosity towards each other, contrary to the common belief that cats and dogs have animosity towards each other. However, if you already have a pet bird inside the household, you might want to consider getting the exotic animal ferret as a pet. Ferrets are known to attack birds, even when they are contained in cages. Thus, if you still want to get a ferret in spite of having a pet bird already, then you should take the necessary measures of keeping them apart.

Ferrets are also very small animals, so you might want to prepare your household for its arrival. Call it “ferret-proofing”, if you may. Make sure that you seal all holes that are of more than an inch in diameter. Ferrets love to crawl into such holes, and this just might lead them to tamper with whatever wires and such in your house. You would not want such an accident to happen. Thus, it is of much importance to do this.

You can also get your ferret a collar with a bell attached to it. This way, when you ferret is frolicking round the house, you would be able to hear where it is running about. Keeping an eye on this exotic animal would then be made easier.
