Healthier Snacks With Organic Dog Treat

There’s so much assortment when it comes to dog treat these days, and sometimes it gets confusing as to which one is best for your favorite pal.  Making sure that you make wise choices with what you give your dog is important for their good health.  Today, dog owners certainly have the widest array of choices for their dog’s snacking pleasure.

Luckily, while there’s an extensive variety of dog treats, the latest trends are leaning towards healthy treats, such as organic dog treats.  Veterinarians have recommended feeding dogs with organic dog treats, as they’re more natural and healthier than typical commercial dog treats.

So what does organic dog treats mean?  Well, organic means the ingredients used in the treat was produced without using artificial pesticides, fertilizers, herbicides, and genetically “modified” organisms.  Organic dog treats do differ from what’s called “natural” dog treats.

“Natural” has become quite overused, and in most cases, while dog treats are called “natural”, they only have few “real” natural ingredients and lots of other non-natural ingredients.  Sadly, there’s no government law that dictates “natural ingredients”, so manufacturers keep using the term even when it actually doesn’t apply.  When buying dog treats, be sure to read labels for ingredients that are “artificial-preservative-free”, as well as free from dyes and have gone through minimal processing.

Organic dog treats, as opposed to “natural”, is said to meet much stricter guidelines to qualify as “organic”.  Thus, organic dog treats are better for dogs because they’ve not been subjected to possibly harmful pesticides, insecticides, fertilizers, and herbicides.  In fact, EPA now considers sixty-percent of herbicides, ninety-percent of fungicides, and thirty-percent of insecticides potentially cause cancer.  Therefore, organic dog treats are believed to be much healthier for dogs compared to natural dog treats.

Some of the benefits of organic treats include being easier and quicker to digest for dogs; dogs don’t suffer poor nutrition due to harmful chemicals used in the treat; there’s usually no added fillers and empty carbohydrates that can lead to dogs overfeeding and taking in more calories than what they burn; and its much safer.  Depending on the organic dog treat’s ingredient and manufacturing process, they can be the best choice for your dog’s snacks –be sure to read labels.

There are many manufacturers of organic dog treats in the market today, and they can be bought online and in dog supply shops and other retailers.  If you’re looking for a healthy way for dog snacks, then maybe it’s time you gave your pal organic dog treats.
