Dogs have been known to be man's best friend.
They're loyal. They're sweet. They're protective. Dogs have served many purposes: guiding the blind, protecting our homes, greeting us after a tiring day at work and many others. But to replace having a romantic partner?
Maybe. Like boyfriends and girlfriends (sometimes spouses), dogs need lots of attention. They expect you to cuddle them, play with them, and feed them all the time. They can be demanding, needy, and egocentric. If you don\'t give them enough attention, they whine, they growl, and to appease them, you must give them that doggie biscuit, the pat on the head or the rub on the back that they desperately crave. They don't care whether you're stressed at work or dealing with a lot of emotions. When they ask for that special kind of attention, you are expected to drop
everything for their sake.
However, dogs may not be a hassle, especially if you're single. Like I said, they're boyfriends and girlfriends with four legs. When you're down, you can always pick them up and hug them. Because they're hungry for attention, and they're not really smart, they would respond by giving you that much needed lick. Unlike boyfriends, they don't judge you, and will love you no matter what. You don't have to look your best when you see them and don't have to worry about saying the wrong thing. Even if you leave them all night by themselves, they still jump up and down when they see you the next day.
It comes to no surprise then that a lot of singles are discovering the joys of having a dog. It's like having a partner without the hassle of having your heart broken intentionally. The only thing you have to worry about, however, is training it how to use the toilet.
